Tarte Gratin

An attractive and tasty accompaniment.

Ingredients

Makes 20:

  • 1.4 kg Gratin Rolls (2 rolls)
  • 5 large red onions
  • Caster sugar
  • Thyme (dried)
  • Vegetable stock (concentrated)

Preparation

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 200 °C.
  2. Chop the onions into slices approx. 0.5 cm thick.
  3. Mix the caster sugar, thyme and concentrated vegetable stock to taste.
  4. Place the mixture in the baking dish and press the onion slices into it.
  5. Cut the Gratin Rolls into servings to fit the baking dish. Arrange the rolls on the onions and press down firmly.
  6. Place the dish in the oven for 20 minutes.
  7. Quickly turn the tarte gratin out onto a flat surface.
