Shepherd's pie

Shepherd's pie is a classic British casserole dish made with a flavorful layer of seasoned ground beef, vegetables like carrots and peas, topped with creamy mashed potatoes and cheese.

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
  2. Finely chop the onions and garlic, peel the carrot, and dice it into small cubes.
  3. Heat a little oil in a large frying pan and sauté the onion and garlic until they become translucent. Then, add the carrot and cook for a few more minutes.
  4. Add the ground beef to the pan, season with pepper and salt, and cook until browned and crumbly.
  5. Stir in the beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, rosemary, thyme, and a bay leaf. Let it simmer gently, reduce the sauce, and adjust the seasoning with pepper and salt if needed.
  6. Spread the meat mixture evenly in a large oven dish.
  7. Mix the mashed potatoes with the grated cheese.
  8. Put the mashed potatoes in a piping bag without a nozzle (cold) and spread it evenly over the oven dish.
  9. Sprinkle a little dried thyme on top.
  10. Bake the dish in the oven for about 30 minutes, until golden brown!
