Shepherd's pie
Shepherd's pie is a classic British casserole dish made with a flavorful layer of seasoned ground beef, vegetables like carrots and peas, topped with creamy mashed potatoes and cheese.
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
- Finely chop the onions and garlic, peel the carrot, and dice it into small cubes.
- Heat a little oil in a large frying pan and sauté the onion and garlic until they become translucent. Then, add the carrot and cook for a few more minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the pan, season with pepper and salt, and cook until browned and crumbly.
- Stir in the beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, rosemary, thyme, and a bay leaf. Let it simmer gently, reduce the sauce, and adjust the seasoning with pepper and salt if needed.
- Spread the meat mixture evenly in a large oven dish.
- Mix the mashed potatoes with the grated cheese.
- Put the mashed potatoes in a piping bag without a nozzle (cold) and spread it evenly over the oven dish.
- Sprinkle a little dried thyme on top.
- Bake the dish in the oven for about 30 minutes, until golden brown!
